-Harriet Tubman replaces Uncle Sam-The basic premise of the project was to replace the iconography of Uncle Sam present on the Times Union Newspaper dispensers with that of Harriet Tubman. The image of Uncle Sam is ubiquitous throughout the city since Troy is the home of the fictitious character "Uncle Sam."
Images of Harriet Tubman were affixed to large pieces of magnet vinyl and the magnets were then stuck to various newspaper dispensers in downtown Troy, NY.
